Sustainability

Sustainability means to us that we handle the resources on earth responsibly. Fashion has many aspects and requires sustainable actions, from ethical working conditions to impacts on the environment. We are convinced that our actions will pay off in the long run.

ORGANIC COTTON

We do not use any conventional cotton. Most of our clothing items are made of 100% organic cotton.

Organic cotton is a natural fiber, free of genetic engineering and much more water-efficient than conventional cotton. Furthermore, no chemicals (neither synthetic fertilizers nor pesticides) are used in its production, but instead crop rotation is promoted to keep the soil healthier, more fertile and moister. The waste from cotton picking is reused in the feed industry.

OUR GOTS CERTIFICATION: FOUR LETTERS THAT CHANGE EVERYTHING

GOTS stands for the Global Organic Textile Standard quality seal. The strictest certification for textiles made from organic fibers. It traces the entire production chain from the cotton fields: from harvest to fiber production, to the sewing of the parts, to the final product before printing and even to the export of our clothing! It certifies that the cotton is grown without genetic engineering or chemicals and processed and dyed without prohibited toxic substances. In addition, GOTS ensures compliance with social standards from the International Labor Organization along the entire production chain.

RECYCLED POLYESTER

We use recycled polyester to make the windbreaker jackets and as an addition (15%) to organic cotton for certain sweatshirts. In the production of a windbreaker jacket, seven to eight PET plastic bottles can be recycled. And to make sure our sweaters are always cuddly soft on your skin, they never come into direct contact with the polyester, which is sandwiched between two layers of organic cotton.

OUR GRS CERTIFICATION: WE RECYCLE OURSELVES!

The Global Recycled Standard quality seal certifies that the materials used have been recycled: the polyester from plastic bottles, the cotton from cutting scraps. GRS also guarantees the compliance with strict social and environmental criteria, such as the clarification of wastewater, the avoidance of certain toxic additives, and compliance with working conditions in our partner factories.

RECYCLED COTTON

When cutting the different parts to make our products, cutting scraps are produced. It's obviously impossible to throw them away. That's why our producer has a partner who collects them and recycles them into new cotton yarn, which is intended for the production of our tote bags.

OEKO-TEX: YOU CAN TRUST OUR CLOTHING BLINDLY!

Trust cannot be bought, only earned. The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifies the absence of harmful chemical substances in all ONÉ LÅB products with its "Confidence in Textile" label. An independent control and certification system ensures special attention to all raw, intermediate, and final textile products:

  • the precautionary principle, which prohibits certain potentially harmful substances, even if they are not yet legally banned
  • the renunciation of health- and environment-harmful chemical substances
  • the restriction of lead content in dyes

PETA CERTIFICATION

With pride, we can also announce that our producer is certified by PETA, meaning that we do not conduct or commission animal testing on ingredients, formulas, or finished products, and promise never to do so. In addition, our clothing is made of 100% vegan materials, so you can trust that no one was harmed during their production.

FUTURE

The issue is very close to our hearts and we are constantly trying to promote sustainability at ONÉ LÅB. This leads us to the question of what materials our products will be made of in the future. There are always more alternatives, such as Pima cotton or SEACELL, which we are exploring.
